About Longford Text Alert
Longford Text Alert is a collaborative project between Longford Local Community Safety Partnership, Longford County Council, local text alert groups and An Garda Síochána. The development of the Longford text Alert app and website was funded by Longford County Council and Department of Rural and Community Development under Our Rural Future: Digital Innovation Programme 2021.
The system is focused so you won’t get flooded with alerts – you choose the location where you want to receive alerts for whether you are in Lanesborough or Abbeylara, Moyne or Ballymahon, or anywhere in-between!
Free to use, with no subscription fees or alert charges, you can view your alerts in-app, by SMS text messages and email – whichever you prefer.
What can you expect to get alerted on? Longford Text Alert will provide communications on crime and safety issues and initiatives, in partnership with An Garda Siochana. You can also receive alerts on community-led initiatives from your local community groups, including Tidy Towns, Creative Ireland Longford and Age Friendly Ireland groups working in your area.
You will also receive updates on courses and initiatives taken place in your local Broadband Communication Point (BCP). The BCPs offer internal (including remote working facilities) and external access to high-speed broadband.
